Cover News

New cover reveals are always special but we are particularly proud of Johanna Boal’s Fizz and Hiss as it also sees the launch of our new Three Trees Editions. If you missed our previous post about Three Trees then you can catch up here.

As well as a wonderful cover, Johanna’s book features a remarkable collection of playful poems drawing on wonderful images that will surprise and startle in equal measure – we can’t wait for it’s release in mid-March.

It’s been a busy start to the year here at Maytree HQ. As well as putting the final touches to our groovy musical feast, Green Fields, we’re also ready to release our first full collection to the world.

Many of you will be familiar with poet and academic, Lucy Newlyn and we are delighted to be publishing Lucy’s fourth full collection of poetry.

The Marriage Hearse is structured around a narrative of a young Edwardian couple who are unable to conceive children. A heartbreaking collection that deserves to be read cover to cover and then read again. The Marriage Hearse is released world-wide on February 14 2020.

To end February we have the long awaited debut poetry collection by award winning writer, Amanda Huggins. Recently described in one review as a ‘gorgeous collection’ we have to be honest and confess that we agree. Love, loss and growing up in a seaside town, the poems in The Collective Nouns for Birds are universal in their appeal.

The cover features our first collaboration with Leeds University, offering art and design students the opportunity to work with us on our cover designs. As soon as we saw Alice Parker’s, The Charm we knew it would work wonderfully and I think you’ll agree that we made a good choice.

The Collective Nouns for Birds is released on the 28 February 2020.

We are delighted to announce that we now have a full publishing schedule for 2020. Take a look below at the marvellous writers that we’ll be publishing throughout the year. We’ll be opening submissions again in mid-summer for 2021 with additional information about how you can feature as a Three Trees author. In the meantime if you’d like any further information then please get in touch via our contact page – we’re always open.
