Description
Unbottled is a collection of poems inspired by DNA. It is a record of a search for biological grandparents and an exploration of family history. It is a document of unforeseen letters and photographs. It is a quest into understanding family ties and the bonds broken by tragedy. It is a diary of discovery.
Unbottled is a truly remarkable collection and one that will stay with you long after the last page.

I suspected this was going to be good as I’d already read Olivia’s previous pamphlet, ‘Unfolded’, and I was not disappointed. ‘Unbottled’ deals sensitively with the subject of family history, the attempt to complete a highly personal jigsaw puzzle. As a fellow poet, I was impressed and inspired by the use of white space and the variety of forms used. Here is the first stanza of the opening poem to tempt you:
‘My mother’s mother has a lover
my mother’s mother’s lover is a puzzle
my mother’s mother leaves my mother
in a Home for awkward silences.’
A wonderfully absorbing read.
